Discipleship. It seems to be one of the trendy catch words that make their way around the church every few years. Hundreds of books are written on what, who, why, where and when discipleship is and what it’s not.
Here’s what we’re learning at FBJB. Discipleship is dirty. It’s gritty. It’s personal, and it’s not easy. There are no perfect disciples. You’ll end up with scars from personal battles, scars from defeat, and scars from growth. There are those who try and dress it up and make it pretty, but it’s not. The process is not about achieving perfection, but becoming like Jesus. And this takes time. It’s not microwave discipleship. It’s a slow cooking, taste developing, spice adding, simmering process.
