Church I have been warning you that this challenge was not going to be easy. We are now finishing up the first 21 days, which I am sure has stretched many of you further than you were expecting to go. I am sure that there are many that have simply quit. That is fine, IF YOU ARE STILL WITH US IN THIS FAST, GET READY, IT IS ABOUT TO GET REAL. We are going to begin to stretch ourselves beyond just these inward disciplines and begin to go outward…………. are you ready to see God move?
WHEN GOD MOVES
More than six hundred years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah predicted that Christ’s work of service on the cross would result in His satisfaction at the resurrection. Isaiah wrote, “After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities” (Isa. 53:11 NIV). Again that word satisfied. Filled to overflowing. Complete. What can we learn from Christ’s example? Certainly we learn that service isn’t going to be easy. There will be suffering of our souls. Service will not be convenient. For some it will mean pain, possibly even death. But if God directs us and gives us His strength, then our service will be satisfying. Martin Lloyd-Jones wrote, “When God acts, He can do more in a minute than man with his organizing can do in fifty years.”3 I would add, or in a lifetime!
When God calls us to fast and pray, we are connected with the only true Source for spiritual power and breakthroughs. We are linked to a God who cleanses our hearts and purifies our spirits. As He makes us clean, He removes the dissonance and static that have short-circuited our communion with God. As we fast and pray, we sharpen our focus as God lifts our spirits. When we choose not to be sated—satisfied—with physical food during our fast, our heavenly Father satisfies us with the delight of His presence. At first it is all so new, so unexpected. Then He takes hold of our eager hearts and speaks as we’ve never heard Him before. Yes, when God moves, and He will move, He will do more in a moment than you can do in a lifetime. (Ronnie Floyd)
I am ready to see what God can do in and through His people in this season in His power. As we seek His face, rest in His promises, walk by the spirit, I can’t wait to see our flesh (selfishness) put to death (Galatians 5) and a waiting/watching world impacted with the gospel.
Today’s prayer during the challenge is asking you to pray and consider where God might be calling you to plug in and serve……please take this seriously and over the next few weeks revisit this prayer request daily. I know that He will give you direction on where He is wanting to use you.
FBJB…..exciting times are ahead of us.
