It is a thing that we strive for. It is a thing we long for. It is a thing we deeply desire. We seek for it in so many different areas of life. We think it could come from work, from play, from family, from relationships, and a myriad of other things. But over and over again, we find it to be something that is illusive. So the question is, can we really achieve peace?
We live in a world that is broken. Not really a news flash, I know. However, I would venture to say that even though we say we know that, we often act surprised when we are confronted with the brokenness of the world. We want peace, but we look at the world around us and it is seemingly nowhere to be found. It seems hopeless at times. And it is during those times that we must remind ourselves of the fact that as followers of Christ we are never in a hopeless situation. Trish shared with us an incredible story of hope last week, and I was reminded that hope must always be in the forefront of our minds as Christians.
Peace is an actual thing that we can hope to attain in Christ. There will come a day when peace on earth will be the reality. There will be a day when ever knee will bow and tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, and in the aftermath of that the lion and the lamb will lay down together….in peace.
