We believe Discipleship is not an event, but a lifestyle. A lifestyle that can’t be understood in a few weeks, or a series, or a curriculum that last for a short time. We understand Discipleship to be about time. Time in the Scripture, time with people, time in preparation, and time in training. As we LIVE, GIVE, and GO, these opportunities present themselves as directives to Be a Disciple and Make a Disciple.
Bible Study. The age old tested way to learn and grow. We are making a concerted effort to return Bible Study to the forefront of our strategy. Choices will cover Sunday morning, Tuesday morning (ladies’ Bible study), Tuesday night (men’s Bible study), and Wed night church wide.
Life Groups. Living in community is very important to the overall health and growth of a Disciple. We offer life stage Life Groups to connect with like minded people that live life together. Thick and thin, rough and smooth, ease and difficulty. Life Groups are an important part of how we’re living the #Disciplelife.
Re:Group. we all find ourselves in situations to where we need to take a serious look at how we got to where we are. Re:Group offers “life classes” on Wed night to deal with specific issues we may be facing. Financial Peace University (looking at biblical financial principles), Embrace Grace (Dealing with crisis pregnancy), and occasionally Parenting, and family issues that offer a genuine perspective from Scripture about the life issues we face.
Year in the Life. Time. It’s a commodity that we all hold dear, yet never seem to be able to grasp the importance of. Discipleship as a Lifestyle involves the most precious thing we have access to. Time. Year in the Life is a year long commitment to deal with specific issues in life in a smaller than life group setting. Currently the focus is with married couples, but we are emerging into single moms, students, retirees, and all the other life stages we go through. What sets this apart from our life group offerings is the specific nature of it. Each member agrees to lead a similar group following the end of the year long commitment.
Missions Residency. Beginning in October, we will begin a strategic effort to invest in people that have a sense of calling on their life to reach the nations. Preparation to go abroad is daunting and needs care. Our goal is to bring people into our fellowship, ask them to invest in our church, teach them to deal with the rigors of schedules and activities that involve weekly time in the harvest, leadership development, and authority, all the while investing in them to send them out with a covering and preparation they need.
Instigating Gospel Conversations. We all need to be better at this. Quarterly training event that offers tools in which to take the Gospel into the community with purpose rather than guilt. Training with the purpose to gain skill and insight. Our challenge is clear. It’s too important to leave to formulas and fear. We become competent as we continue to be trained.
